Aptitude, Reasoning & Campus Placement Testing
Almost every mass campus recruitment process in India opens with an aptitude test, and it is where most eliminations happen — before anyone looks at a project or a CGPA. This course covers quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability and data interpretation, taught for speed and accuracy under exam conditions rather than for mathematical completeness.

How this is shaped for your students
Aptitude preparation is only useful if it is aimed at the tests your students will actually sit. We look at the degree and year — this course works best from second year rather than final semester — the current baseline across the group, cohort size, the recruiters who visit your campus and the test patterns they use, the local hiring market, relocation intent, and the hours available before your placement season opens. Topic weighting, difficulty and the mock test patterns are all set from that.
Who this is for
- Strong fit
- all streams, all years
- Also suitable
- none. This course has the broadest applicability in the library after BVA-AI-001
- Before you start
- None. Recommended from second year, not final semester
What the course covers
Foundation5 modules
- 01Number fundamentalsnumber systems, HCF and LCM, divisibility, remainders, powers and roots, mental calculation shortcuts
- 02Arithmetic corepercentages, ratio and proportion, averages, the topics that generate the largest share of questions in every test
- 03Verbal foundationsvocabulary in context, grammar for correction questions, sentence completion, common error types
- 04Logical reasoning basicsseries, analogies, classification, coding-decoding, direction and blood relations
- 05Test techniquetime per question, when to skip, negative marking strategy, accuracy versus attempt count, managing the clock
Applied5 modules
- 01Commercial arithmeticprofit and loss, simple and compound interest, discount, partnership, mixtures and alligation
- 02Time-based problemstime and work, time speed and distance, pipes and cisterns, trains and boats
- 03Data interpretationtables, bar and line charts, pie charts, caselets; reading fast and calculating approximately
- 04Advanced reasoningseating arrangement, puzzles, syllogisms, statement and conclusion, data sufficiency
- 05Verbal abilityreading comprehension technique, para jumbles, critical reasoning, inference questions
Advanced4 modules
- 01Permutation, combination and probabilitythe topics students most often abandon, taught to the depth tests actually require
- 02Geometry, mensuration and algebrathe selective coverage that appears in placement papers rather than the full syllabus
- 03Company-specific patternsthe differing test structures of major Indian recruiters and adaptive test behaviour; preparing for a pattern rather than a syllabus
- 04Full-length simulation and diagnosistimed sectional and full tests, error log analysis, identifying whether a student's problem is knowledge, speed or nerves, and treating each differently
Three levels, one continuous path
Foundation
You start from working vocabulary and first-hand contact with the tools. If you have never opened them before, you can start here. The work is guided, and you are assessed on knowing the material and applying it simply.
Applied
You turn knowledge into a way of working. You are given a brief with real constraints and incomplete information, you make decisions, and you explain why you made them. This is the level at which most students become useful on an internship.
Advanced
You handle the messy version: conflicting requirements, scale, cost, things going wrong, other people’s opinions, and knowing when not to do the obvious thing. The work is portfolio quality and you have to defend it.
Work you can show an employer
1Foundation
a diagnostic test with a personal topic-level gap analysis and study plan.
2Applied
an error log maintained across twenty sectional tests, with pattern analysis.
3Advanced
six full-length simulated tests with a documented score trajectory and revised strategy.
Capstone
Placement Test Simulation. Three full-length timed tests in the patterns of three named recruiter types, with detailed diagnostics on accuracy, speed and topic distribution, and a final readiness report the placement cell can act on.
Tools you will use
Essential
- a practice question bank
- a timer
- an error log
- previous placement papers
Recommended
- an online test platform
- sectional tests
- a formula reference sheet
Advanced
- adaptive testing simulation
- company-specific mock tests
- a spaced-repetition system for error patterns

Roles this course is relevant to
This course is the entry gate to mass recruitment across IT services, BFSI, consulting, FMCG and manufacturing. It is not a role in itself, and it is the single highest-leverage course in the library for improving a college's overall placement conversion.
What you can do when you finish
- Solve standard quantitative aptitude problems within test time limits
- interpret data sets and compute approximate answers at speed
- complete logical reasoning sets including puzzles and arrangements
- handle reading comprehension and critical reasoning under time pressure
- sit a full-length placement aptitude test with a measured and improving score
Length and delivery
| Option | Typically used for | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| 30 hours | Value Added Course, or a single-semester elective | All of Foundation |
| 45 hours | Skill Enhancement Course | Foundation, plus selected Applied modules |
| 60 hours | Standard cohort | Foundation, Applied, and the Applied project |
| 90 hours | Two semesters, or intensive | All three levels, plus the Advanced project |
